GALILEO'S MISSING ARGUMENT

Following Galileo’s conviction in 1633, the protagonists of his Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems gathered to discuss a theory of how Galileo Galilei could have evaded the guilty verdict.




The path of the Earth as seen from the Moon, plotted for 1533 - 1633. This diagram convinced Pope Urban VII that the Ptolemaic World System was outdated, which subsequnetly led to the Inquisition dropping charges against Galileo in July 1633.
